I was really fortunate to be able to go to see the Rolling Stones at the United Center in May 2013.
Here is the story I wrote back then:
The Rolling Stones are a rock band that is world famous. During 2013 they were celebrating their 50th anniversary of being a group.
Ithink that is tremendous. If you think about it they have been doing basically the same exact things for 50 years straight.
I think they will be touring until they die or until one of them becomes ill. My father is a huge fan of them. I have been forced to listen to their music.
To my amazement they have very nice songs. The last time my dad went to see them live was in 1999. That is about 14 years ago.
The way we are going to get VIP seats is because my dad knows a man who knows the man who is in charge of ticket sales for the United Center.
Before my dad told me who they were I never even knew they existed on any planet including ours.
Whats the United Center?
The United Center is the home of the Chicago Blackhawks. Luckily, they are in the playoffs for the Stanley cup.
The Moment I’ve been Waiting For, For Ever
It was Friday after school when my dad told me that that day we were going to a Rolling Stones concert.
When my dad told me that, I was so ecstatic because that was my first concert and they were my favorite band and still are.
He said we were going to leave at 5:00. I was so excited that I told him I couldn’t wait until five to go, and that we should go at 4:30.
He stuck to 5 so I didn’t create a fight.
When my mom asked me what I did in school I had quite a bit of information to tell her. The first thing I told her was that in Math class we made a Dodecahedron, a 12 sided figure. In Science there was a meteorologist from Argonne National Laboratories, that I thou rally enjoyed. Then there was a test in Social Studies that I got 100 percent on. That was everything I basically did the whole day at school.
When it was about 5 o’clock, I told my dad to get up and let’s go because the doors opened at 6:30. The day before we bought a really good camera lens and a pair of binoculars that magnify up to 17 times. When we were on the way to the United Center, we had to stop at the gas station. I noticed that gas prices e\were becoming very expensive. It doesn’t help because
my dad Nissan Sport is basically a small gas guzzler. Unlike my mom’s car it is a Hundy Sonata Hybrid that gets about 35mpg.
Both I and my father were White Castles fans so we stopped for White Castles. I didn’t eat anything because it causes my stomach to hurt and I didn’t want to be uncomfortable during the concert.
When I realized that we were in a strange neighborhood, I decided that I shouldn’t use the binoculars or the cannon camera because didn’t want some crazy guy to try to rob our car. When we got to the arena we had to ask where lot H was because both of us were clueless. When I saw that the parking lot was only 20 feet from the door of entry I was excited. The problem was that we had to find will call. Someone told my dad it was by the giant Michael Jordan statue.
It was right by the statue. As always we stopped at the gift shop and bought multiple souvenirs. We waited in line for only about five to ten minutes before the doors opened. When we finally got into the arena I was so thrilled because I really wanted to see what the giant red lips really look like. Our section was 113 row number 12. The view was extremely good. I saw the lips. They were so cool because they looked so realistic. The stage went around the mosh pit where people stand up the whole concert. I told my dad that what were then the teeth was a jumbotron that shows the band so the people with the bad seats could see the band.
When I was waiting for the show to start I was asking my dad some questions about when he saw the Rolling Stones in 1999. He told me that he was way in the back and you couldn’t really see the Rolling Stones.
When the show started one hour late, literally everyone in the whole United Center stood up and started screaming and going off the chain. My head started to hurt because as you know I have sensitive ears so loud sounds bother me. As soon as they entered the stage they went right into their first song, Get Off Of My Cloud.
At the end of the song Mick Jagger, the lead singer had all of us sing part of the song. I really enjoyed when he did that because it is crazy to know that over 10,000 people can all be in sync with each other.
